SAXON TEAM ON WINNING FORM AT BRANDS GP MEETING

The 22nd / 23rd of May was the date for the MSVR Brands Grand Prix Circuit Meeting. The event would see 2 TTRS races and round 3 of the Golf GTi Championship.

Saturday's TTRS races started worryingly after a fractured brake pipe side lined Rob Sadlers E30 325 BMW in qualifying he faced an uphill battle to come back from 20th on the grid, his 2010  form showed no sign of faultering as he finished the first race in 7th overall and 3rd in Class. Capitalising on his first race result Rob came home 5th in Race 2 winning his class and setting his second new lap record of the season.

It was the first ever visit to the GP circuit for the Golfs and a bumper 37 car grid showed its gratitude. Simon Hill was pipped to pole position during the final 2 minutes of qualifying. Regular endurance driver Neil Primrose split the regular front runners in his Saxon hire car going  7th on the grid. Matt Weller, Verity Young and Charles Godfrey were all close at the back of the top 15. Nick Jarvis in a car freshly built by the team was struggling to learn the new circuit and ended up 32nd. Hill drove faultlessly for a lights to flag victory and new 16 valve lap record, Neil Primrose and Matt Weller  also finishing inside the top 10 with Charles Godfrey in 11th. Nick Jarvis quickly getting used to his surroundings dropped 5secs on his lap time from quali and finished an encouraging 18th.
